It’s The Happiness Project Award Show
Happy Monday Everyone! I’ve been a lucky girl to receive 3 WHOLE AWARDS this past week! Still, I have a suspicion that the award bearers will try to redact their nominations after my last post’s guilty confession. 😉 So I must make this public NOW!
Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome himself, David N. Walker, nominated me for the WordPress Family Award! I’m very honored to have this title as it was my WordPress family who motivated me to keep writing! David is a part of that family and you should check out his award post because he nominated some of my favorite people in the blogosphere! Big hugs and high fives to all my WP peeps!
Then Mary Wallace, aka ViolaFury, made my Sunday by bestowing me with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award and another Liebster Award (Liebster means ‘friend’)! I really got to know Mary through ROW80, and she’s such a cheerleader for her fellow writers. Her comments and kindness (and Christmas cards) always make me smile! Her award post is chock full of writers I need to check out, so be sure you do too!
One of the fun parts of these blog awards is learning new things about the bloggers you follow. Mary answered 11 questions about herself and challenged me to do the same, so here goes:
1. What is your favorite video game?
The only one I was ever good at was Mario Brothers, but I have a fondness for both Mega-Man and Battle Toads. Therefore, it must be a three-way tie.
2. Do you prefer sleeping on a soft surface or hard surface?
I like a firmer mattress.
3. What is the most unusual food you have tried?
Baby octopus or squid head, both in South Korea
4. What is your favorite odd food or meal?
When I was little I was a big fan of french toast with gravy…
5. What is the first sense you turn to when describing something in your writing (sight, sound, taste, smell, touch)?
Sight. I’m a visual person, followed by smell. I don’t hear so good, unless I’m trying to sleep and then I hear EVERYTHING!
6. What is one of the cutest things you have ever seen in your life?
My niece and goddaughter, Sonja.
7. What is the ugliest thing you have ever seen or experienced?
Pooping my pants in public wasn’t exactly ideal.
8. Do you prefer typing or writing with a pen and paper?
When working on my book, I type. It’s just faster. But when thinking up ideas for it, or journaling in general, always pen and paper.
I get to start a new journal soon! Always exciting!
9. What is your favorite thing to drink?
This one’s hard. It depends on what I’m doing.
For writing: Green Tea Lattes
After a workout: Ice water or a Smoothie
Night in: Red wine
Hiking: Red wine in a canteen
10. Do you prefer road trips, airline travel, train travel, other when going long distances?
All of the above – YES! When do we leave?
11. What is your favorite way to watch TV/movies? (as in do you watch on a big screen, your laptop, TIVO…)
I watch some shows on my laptop, but we don’t have TIVO or Netflix. I get all my movies from the library and watch them on the TV.

Ok, folks, here’s what I want to do! Let’s all nominate 2 bloggers and share links to their sites in the comments! Nominate one for the WordPress Family (or Liebster Award if blogspot’s yer home base – it’s cool) and one for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!
My picks:
WordPress Family Award: Tiffany A. White – Fellow redhead and movie buff, I’m convinced we’re sisters. Plus – this girl donates proceeds from her AWESOME book Football Sweetheart anytime there’s a disaster. She’s got a heart of gold, and one on her finger now too – CONGRATS TIFF!!!
Very Inspiring Blogger Award: Ingrid Schaffenburg – Ingrid always writes such inspiring posts. She’s got an old soul and faces adversity with poise and acceptance. She is always learning something new, and has so many talents; it’d be easier for me to just hate her, but I can’t, because she’s kind and genuine and beautiful, inside and out.
Who will you nominate?
Thank you for being at my place last Friday! That piece was fantastic — plus, I was astounded by how many people were willing to confess to pooping in public! Soooo funny! I applaud you for getting right on this. I’m terrible about responding to awards! I, too, was honored to be on David’s list… and I have to do Kassandra Lamb’s from waaaay back. Oy! Time to get on those. Like now. 🙂 Congratulations for your awards. You’ve earned them, you squid eater.
Aww, thanks Renee! I’m happy the post went so well. That morning when it first launched, I was nervous. LOL
Had a blast though and really loved all the stories everyone shared. Too funny and very humbling!
Congratulations!
Thanks Kirsten!
I am dying, dying laughing right now, in the middle of the library. I’m laughing with you, of course. Who hasn’t that happened to? (ahem.) That takes guts — thanks so much for sharing.
And – congratulations on your awards!
Thanks, Jessica! Yah, I don’t feel so alone anymore. It’s like old news now. LOL
Don’t think I’m not going to steal this idea from you. Getting your readers to nominate your awards! How about http://mikemcmurray.wordpress.com/ for Word Press Family. Great pics and a nice guy!
It’s more fun when we can all play along! I’ll check out Mike’s blog! Thanks for nominating him!
Awe, Jess. I’m convinced we’re sisters too!! Thank you so much for the nomination. Congrats on the awards!!
Your award is well deserved!
Enjoy honeymoon bliss!
I like French toast and gravy, too. As long as it’s maple syrup-flavored gravy.
It was buffalo gravy, and it was delicious. Don’t judge.
Congrats on your well deserved awards. These tired eyes saw something much more adult than tentacles and had to look a second (because I also have a dirty mind) & third time before I got it right. My Michigan cousins got me hooked on gravy fries, so I won’t judge you for your French Toast/gravy love. 🙂
Gravy fries are good too. I’m a fan of chili fries as well. All fries are tasty if you ask me. 🙂
Congratulations, Jess! What an adorable picture with your niece! I am enjoying your blog and loved the pooping story. You inspired me to talk about my “peeing in my pants” event. 🙂 I have two bloggers to nominate but the problem is that neither of them are “Family” friendly…They are more like hilarious, raunchy LMAO bloggers. If you want more laughter in your life, check them out. 🙂 http://ohgodmywifeisgerman.com/ and http://donofalltrades.com/
If I can blog about poop, then I have no judgement on others. LOL. I will definitely check out your nominated bloggers!
And thanks for sharing your story with me too! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one.
Thank you for the mention, Jess. You deserve these. I guess as fellow redheads (and at age 57, nary a gray hair) I was drawn to your blog. Mainly because of your elegance and ebullience for life. I, too, have had the charming experience of pants-pooping; I would be willing to bet this is like the Cootie Leagues we had in Catholic School. I love what you’re doing here and can’t wait to check out these new blogs. Thanks again, love! You are simply the best!
You give the highest form of praise, Mary! I feel I’m not worthy. My “elegance and ebullience for life”! NO ONE has ever described me as elegant. I heart you for LIFE now!
Congratulations, Jess! I’m finally get caught up and just read your excruciatingly funny #SoWrong post. Respect, sister. Respect.
I think you might be on to something with this french toast and gravy…
*getting. (I’m still getting caught up on my ability to type.)
Yah, not my favorite hiking moment. But I had a great time in Yellowstone Nat’l Park! No pooping in the woods whatsoever!
No, Jess, they have wild bears to do that at Yellowstone.
We saw one! It was super cool, and a bit scary.
ooooh, #7, yeah that would be not such a great memory. 😉
You have no idea…
Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome himself . . . Are you sure you are visual? Sounds like you need glasses.
LOL 😀
Nice to “meet” you Jess. Looking forward to more post 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Aziza!
Thank you again so much Jess! I’m so touched 🙂 And it’s been great getting to know you!
It’s been lovely getting to know you, Ingrid! Very well deserved award! Hope it inspires you to keep on writing!!!
thank you Jess! it certainly has 🙂 don’t know what i’d do without you ladies 🙂
