Holy Cannoli, I’m Back from Boston

Cannoli

Hello Everyone! I’m back! I survived a week long vacation with my parents!

Boston was wonderful! It was great to be back in the city and visiting so many historical sites. Despite the 90 degree weather we had all week, you’ll be happy to know not a one of us pooped our pants! We did, however, enjoy parts of the Freedom Trail, touring the U.S.S. Constitution – “Old Ironsides”, a whale watch, Plimoth Plantation, our ancestor’s home the Howland House, the J.F.K. Library and Museum, and the New England Aquarium.

I also got a great fill of seafood and made sure we visited Little Italy for some Italian food and cannoli! Boy do I wish I could’ve packed some of that to take home!

There’s lots more to share, and I promise to do so, but I’ve got some writing to do and a suitcase to unpack! Be back real soon! In the meantime, have a very Happy 4th of July!!!

Wish you were here,

Jess

  1. Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a great time.

    1. Thanks Ryan! Hope you guys had some great wordcounts while I was away! I’m ready to get back to it!

  2. Love the North End of Boston – YUM! The cannolis are so good. Glad you enjoyed it.

    1. I really wished I could’ve packed some cannoli to take with me. YUM indeed!

  3. Yay! Great to have you back. I can’t wait to read about your adventures. Cannolis… yumminess sent from God. When you make it out to San Diego, I’ve got a few places that make GREAT cannolis. I’ll take you there. (Like how I said ‘when’ there and not ‘if’. I’m thinking it needs to happen soon.) 🙂

    1. LOL. I’d love to! I’ve never been to California and Joe has. He did a CA tour with his band and loved it! We’ll have to head your way soon!

  4. Did you happen to go into an Italian bakery where there were two little old grannies, both dressed in all black, waiting on customers? Can’t remember the name of the shop, but when we were in Boston, we went there and these two were barely taller than the counter! Delicious bakery, though, and a wonderful trip – hope you enjoyed yours, too!

    1. No, we didn’t go there. But we had dinner at la Dolce Vita, a restaurant Joe and I ate at three years ago. The owner is from Italy and he sang in Italian two times during our meal, chatted with my family and kissed my hand on the way out. I adore that man and his tasty food!

  5. That’s the most adorable picture ever! I want a cannoli!! And I don’t even really like cannoli.

    1. I’ve never met a cannoli I didn’t like. 🙂

  6. Wow! You accomplished a lot in a short time. Thanks for sharing with us. 🙂

    1. You’re a traveler too, Jolyse, have you been to Boston? It’s a great city!

      1. I have traveled there, as a teen. However, at the time, I was far more focused on the boy (his mom was our chaperone!) I liked than on the historical sites. I’d love to go back someday. I don’t live far from there at all. Look forward to more details and photos when you get a chance.

  7. I did the Freedom Trail/”Old Ironsides” thing myself when I was back there. Sadly, I missed the cannoli, though. I guess that gives me a good excuse to go back! Have a bang-up 4th, Jess.

    1. A foodie such as yourself?! You definitely need to take Tara out for cannoli. There’s two shops on Hanover St. that are rival cannoli shops: Mike’s and Modern. Tell me which one’s your favorite when you go!

  8. So glad you are enjoying your summer. was that THE big trip this year? Did you bring extra underpants? 🙂

    1. So far summer has been enjoyable! How’s your life without Tech Support so far? Good and bad I suppose. 🙂

It was one of the big trips this year. We planned it a year ago so I could take my mom to Plymouth and visit our ancestor’s home.

And yes, Renee, I did pack extra underpants, but they were not needed. A lady is always prepared though. 😛

Tell me a story...
