Halloween Party and Costume Contest

Halloween CollageIt’s no secret I love Halloween.

Like. Really. Love. Halloween.

It’s a good thing my honey loves Halloween too! Every year Joe and I collect more Halloween decorations.

He continues to scare the crap out of me by hiding more spiders around the house. (I don’t do spiders.)

I continue to buy Halloween movies for us to watch each night.

You never know what you might find at our house!

Skeleton

We also love to dress up.

Sometimes our costumes go together…

Who ya gonna call? … GHOSTBUSTERS!

It was Mrs. Peacock in the Billiard Room with the Wrench!

Sometimes, they don’t…

I bet the real Dolly Parton never had to deal with zombies.

This year we coordinated! Joe’s band, TUGG, decided to dress up as The Wizard of Oz, and all the ladies agreed to play along too.

Behold…OZ!

Wizard of Oz Cast

Pretty spectacular, isn’t it? I must say, we did have fun.

Wizard of Oz Collage

Maybe too much fun…

Witches Duel

Ok, definitely too much fun! (But look what I made on Pixlr, I mean this just screams to be made into a bookmark!)

  1. I love that you all coordinated! It looks awesome.

I would love to share, but I have this whole anonymity thing going . I have a pic of the fam last year as Avergers, and this year we plan to do Mario Bros. Can I send it to YOU and you don’t put it on the blog? You MAY get to see me as Princess Peach and the hubs as a mushroom. He is not aware of this yet, which makes it even better! 😉

    1. Yes please send it! I’d love to see it! I also like that your whole family coordinates.

  2. Love the costumes, Jess! We will be on the road … 23-hour drive to Florida … and dressed as Snowbirds!

    1. Jealous! And here I thought you’d be helping me shovel this year.

  3. I Love your costumes! What fun!!!!

    1. Great minds think alike. You dressed as Morticia and I once dressed as Wednesday Addams. Complete with headless doll!

  4. Love it!! A bearded Dorothy is just wrong though. 😀

    1. I thought he did an exceptional job braiding his hair though.

  5. See, I disagree with Kassandra…I think that bearded Dorothy is the best part (after your Glinda, of course).

I shall tweet you the photo of Hubby and I as cave people. It’s 15 kinds of wrong. 🙂

    1. It sounds 15 shades of amazing!

  6. Hubs and I don’t do costumes but love other people’s imaginative creations! Although some days I could pass as the Wicked Witch of the West – all I need is the pointy black hat and a broom!
Love the pics, Jess! I think it’s great that you and Joe, both, love dressing up!

    1. The pictures don’t have to be of you, Marcia. I’ll bet your granddaughters are Trick-or-Treating this year…

  7. So fun! I love the pics. I’ve gotten into Halloween the past couple of years after somewhat disregarding the holiday for years – which means I have lots to make up for. 😉

    1. I love your Tippi Hedrin shot ala The Birds! You must submit that for the contest! You know I’m a Hitchcock fan!

  8. That last pic! Lol.

    1. That was from my brother’s Wicked party. The whole family came over to see the musical Wicked. My boyfriend and I decorated the house, but my brother made the witch legs using his wife’s shoes. LOL

  9. Hot dang that’s quite a haul you’re giving away! And here I would have just settled for the bookmark. (No. Seriously. That’s awesome.)

    1. Hahaha thanks Jules. I thought it was humorously awesome as well. I’ll have to make some up.

  10. Jess you make Halloween so much fun. Thanks so much. You and Joe are so darling.
Enjoy you weekend. Claire (Sharon’s friend).

    1. Thanks Claire!! Appreciate the comment. We do get a LITTLE excited about Halloween.

  11. Great costumes, Jess. Love the idea for a costume contest online and such great giveaways. Mathair and I haven’t decided what we’re going to be just yet, but once we do we’ll post it. Don’t think it’ll beat yours though. Happy Halloween.

    1. Oooh I cannot WAIT to see! So glad you gals are partipating! Happy Halloween!

  12. Great idea! I’ll see if I can dig up a photo and send to you via Facebook. I’ve had a few good ones over the years, though none quite as well thought out as yours. Looks like you’ll have another spook-tacular holiday this year!

    1. Can’t wait to see, Mark. Are you and Tara dressing up this year?

      1. I don’t know yet, Jess. Our trip didn’t give us much time to plan. I’d like to, though! Got any last-minute creative costume ideas?

        1. Lawrence Welk and a Lemon sister! I’ve always wanted to do that! LOL How about prom night? Or masquerade ball? Or What Does the Fox Say??!! You could both dress up as foxes and hold conversation bubbles with a phrase on each side from the song!! Like Ring ding ding ding dinga ding and Wapaw paw pow pow pow pow! OMG!!! Do. It. Please.

          1. Umm…lol. We won’t be dressing up together. My office is holding a costume contest, so I’d need something for that. Still mulling over options.

  13. It makes me smile when I think about you and Joe on Halloween.

    1. Yah, we’re pretty awesome.

  14. What fun! I love the bearded Dorothy. I especially love how soft, shimmery, and perfectly Glinda-ish you look! Gorgeous. You certainly do know how to do Halloween. Have fun tonight!

    1. Thank you Tameri! I was probably just channeling you for you all those things everyday! Happy Halloween!

  15. Whooohoo, Jess! You have a serious backlog of great costumes. I’m a sucker for all things Dolly, so that’s maybe my favorite. Here’s a link to ours this year: http://rhinestonearmadillo.typepad.com/my_weblog/2013/10/happy-halloween.html#comments

    1. Love that the whole family’s in on it! Happy Halloween Laura!!
